In April, May & June the garden will be open for members only from 4:30pm to 7pm every Monday night.
Below is a list of special activities for members on the selected evenings.
May 19th – Exploring the Arboretum’s Orchard Collection with Jonathan Davis
Meet at the Nature Center at 6 pm and join Arboretum Biologist Jonathan Davis for a tour of our orchards and historic citrus collection. Wear comfortable shoes and the walk will be approximately 1 hour.
May 26th – No late hours due to Memorial Day
June 2nd – Heritage Rose Garden Tour and Talk with Frank Clark
Meet at the Nature Center at 6 pm and meet our “Rose Guy”, volunteer Frank Clark who will give a walk and talk among our Heritage Roses. Learn the unique histories of these roses and why they make our collection so special.
June 9th – Mojave Desert Tour and Talk with Chris Barnhill
Meet at the Nature Center at 6pm and join Living Collections Curator Chris Barnhill for an informative walk and talk in our Mojave Desert. Learn how the topography was created and plants were collected to create a perfect replica of a Mojave Desert wash right here in the Arboretum! Comfortable walking shoes a must!
June 16th – Arboretum Nursery & Propagation Tour and Talk with Greg Pongetti
Meet at the Nature Center at 6pm and meet our Nursery Manager, Greg Pongetti, for a tour and talk in our Nursery. See the newly propagated Native Plants growing for our fall sale, tour our greenhouse and learn how the Nursery helps to grow the Arboretum’s plant collections. Comfortable walking shoes a must!
June 23rd – Current research projects at the Arboretum – tour and talk with Miguel Macias
Meet at the Nature Center at 6pm and meet our Education Manager, Miguel Macias who will give a walk and talk about the research projects happening at Fullerton Arboretum. Miguel will talk about his own research project done in our desert collection. Wear your walking shoes!
June 30th – California Roses of the Decade Tour and Talk with Frank Clark
Meet at the Nature Center at 6 pm and meet our “Rose Guy”, volunteer Frank Clark who will give a walk and talk among our newest collection of hybrid roses “California Roses of the Decade”. Learn more about this colorful collection and the care given by our staff and volunteers.
